C is for Cat, who sits by my shelves...

D is for death, which Juneau enjoys. Especially as it pertains to small winged animals and animals with bushy tails. Oh, and loud firemen and paramedics. She really, really hates firemen and paramedics.

K is for Kenyon, with whom my aunt is obsessed. And Abbie thinks herself a Dark Hunter companion or maybe a were-cat of some sort.

O is for the occult studies, which needs a fuzzy familiar to make it worthwhile.

Yes, yes. I know! I take a lot of pictures of the cats. But who wants to see pictures of me anyways? I don't look cute in my winter fur.

We Now Take a Break From Our Regularly Scheduled Program-

-To bring you "Eighties Day" at Wal-Mart. Yes, they pay us to do this. And then rue the results.

We will now return to our regular broadcasting schedule.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...

After much argument and consideration, pleading and bargaining, we decorated the tree, settling on traditional colors. It was promptly taken over by the cats.

And snow fell shortly after the beginning of the month and has continued to fall ever since. I've discovered many things since moving to South Dakota, and one of them is that an iPod goes on strike in single digit weather when it's taken outside. Another is that you should always pee before you get in your car to go somewhere, because you will inevitably have to do so as soon as you are five miles from an accessible bathroom (something to do with the cold and my bladder, maybe).

The next pic is of the moon up at about seven in the morning while a light snow is falling.

Drawer Monster

I tried to do laundry today. The washing and drying part is easy- it's the putting away that gets me in trouble.

Thanksgiving Sunrise

We had a New Mexico-style sunrise the day of Thanksgiving- God's way of reminding us to be thankful for the bigger picture, I guess. In any case, my camera doesn't do it justice.

Learning through...

I think Juneau is hoping to absorb some smarts through osmosis. I tried to tell her that the shelf on birds and bird watching was further over, but she's convinced she's interested in Peter the Great and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Wal-Mart Shenanigans

This is a really crappy picture because I took it with the camera on my phone, and I was laughing really hard, so it's a bit jiggly. Anyway... the giant metal contraption with the blue hose is a donut glazer. You feed trays of donuts through the mouth on the right (outside of the picture), which feeds them through the big box (which heats them up), which pushes them into the tray on the left, where glaze dribbles down on them, then through the bottom of the glazer into the blue hose, which pours it back into the glaze box on the top. It's a nifty closed system that should work really well, since it's about two months old. But we've had the repairman out twice already. *Le sigh*

The giant furry thing sitting in the glaze box is a Halloween spider. I set that little trick up for one of my co-workers, an older woman named Ruth, who has the most infectious old-lady laugh you will ever hear. She came in and walked around for about fifteen minutes setting up donut racks before she even saw the giant donut-wielding spider. Then there were flying donuts. It was epic.

Yes, this is what Wal-Mart pays me to do. Kinda. Sorta. :)
